FAG Barrel roller bearings are single row, self-aligning roller bearings. these fag bearings are particularly suitable for applications where a high radial load carrying capacity and the compensation of misalignment are required. Their sturdy design has proven its worth especially in cases where shock-type radial loads have to be accommodated. The axial load carrying capacity of the barrel roller bearings is limited.The bearings are not separable.

Basic design
Barrel roller bearings of the basic design are available either with cylindrical or with tapered bore.The bearings with cylindrical bore have normal radial clearance, those with tapered bore an increased radial clearance (clearance group C3).

Tolerances
The FAG barrel roller bearings of the basic design have a normal tolerance.

Bearing clearance
Bearings with a cylindrical bore have the clearance group “normal” (no suffix), bearings with a tapered bore have an increased radial clearance
(suffix C3).

Alignment
Under normal loads and with rotating inner ring barrel roller bearings can compensate for misalignments of up to 4°. Our Technical Service will inform you on the self-aligning capacity at rotating outer ring or at wobbling inner ring.

Cages
Basic design barrel roller bearings have either moulded window-type cages of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 66 (suffix T) or machined brass cages (suffix MB).

Cages of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 66 can be used at steady-state temperatures of up to 120 °C. If the bearings are lubricated with oil, any additives contained in the oil may reduce the cage service life. Also, aged oil can reduce the cage life at higher temperatures; therefore, the oil change intervals have to be observed

FAG cylindrical rollers
FAG cylindrical rollers of rolling fag bearings steel have a hardness between 58 and 65 HRC. The
roller profile adapated to the raceway profile in such a way that edge stressing is largely avoided. All rollers are graded according to the mean deviations from diameter and length. The tolerance depends on the diameter and on the length of the rollers. Each roller gauge is packed separately. The mean deviationsof diameter and length are indicated on the container below the roller designation.

Nominal diameter Dw= 6.5 mm
Length Lw= 9 mm
The actual finished diameter is between 6.499and 6.501mm
The actual finished length is between 8.991 and8.997mm

If a consignment of rollers of the same nominal size comprises several boxes, the gauge may vary from box to box. Each individual box, however,contains rollers of identical gauge. Cylindrical rollers can be ordered

FAG balls of rolling bearing steel have a hardness of 58 to 66 HRC.

The balls are available in various classes  G or grades with various dimensional and form toler-ances. The maximum and minimum permissiblediameter deviations and the form tolerances aredetermined for the individual ball diameters of each grade.

The balls of one maximum/minimum tolerance range are sorted in ball gauges with very small diameter tolerance ranges. Balls of each gauge areseparately packed, and the mean deviation is indicated on the box below the ball designation. P0identifies zero, P a plus value, M identifies a minus value.

The seal should, on the one hand, prevent the lubricating grease or oil from escaping from the fag bearings and, on the other hand, prevent contaminants from entering the bearing. The effectiveness of a seal has a considerable influence on the service life of a bearing arrangement.

Non-rubbing seals

The only friction arising with non-rubbing seals is the lubricant friction in the lubricating gap. These seals can function for a long time and are suitable even for very high speeds. Outside the bearing, gap-type seals or labyrinth seals may, for instance, be used.Space-saving sealing elements are dust shields mounted in the bearing. Bearings with dust shields are supplied with a grease filling.

Rubbing seals

Rubbing seals contact their metallic running surfaces under a certain force. The intensity of the resulting friction depends on the magnitude of this force, the lubricating condition and the roughness of the running surface, as well as on the sliding velocity.

Felt rings prove particularly successful with grease lubrication. Radial shaft seals are above all used at oil lubrication.V-rings are lip seals with axial effect which are frequently used as preseals in order to keep dirt away from a radial shaft seal.Bearings with integrated sealing washers allow the construction of plain designs. FAG offer maintenance-free bearings with two sealing washers and a grease filling.

Function  
The deep hole drilling machine is used to drill holes in the end faces of shafts up to 4 m long. The holes can be up to 180 mm deep and 10 mm in diameter. In addition to drilling, the machine can be used to chamfer the shafts and holes. In deep hole drilling, the bit is supplied with coolant under pressure either adjacent to the tool or through the tool shank. The coolant also flushes the swarf out of the hole.

The control panel can be moved by hand over a distance of 6 m along the machine. The operator can therefore always take up an appropriate position in relation to the workpiece. The panel must move smoothly and without stick-slip in order to avoid disrupting operation.

fag bearing lubrication-Oil is generally used for fag rolling bearing lubrication when high speeds or operating temperatures preclude the use of grease, when frictional or applied heat has to be removed from the fag bearings position, or when adjacent components (eg gears) are lubricated with oil.

In order to increase bearing service life, all methods of bearing lubrication that use clean oil are preferred, i.e. well filtered circulating oil lubrication, oil jet method and the oil-spot method with filtered air and oil. When using the circulating oil and oil-spot methods,adequately dimensioned ducts must be provided so that the oil flowing from thebearing can leave the arrangement.

Oil Selection
The viscosity of oil is temperature dependent, becoming lower as the temperature rises. The viscosity-temperature relationship of an oil is characterized by the viscosity index VI. For fag roller bearing lubrication, oils having a high viscosity index (little change with temperature) of at least 95 are recommended.

spherical roller bearings, toroidal roller bearings, taper roller bearings, and spherical roller thrust bearings, normally have a higher operating temperature than other bearing types, e.g. deep groove ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings, under comparable operating conditions.

Function  
The saw unit of a circular cross-cut and mitre-box saw is raised from its base position by hand and pressed onto the surface to be sawn. The saw blade is then guided through the material from this position.
   
The movement of the saw blade consists of a linear and a swivel motion. The movement mechanisms of the device are fitted with springs that act in the direction of the initial position. A spring also draws a cover over the saw blade as soon as it is withdrawn from the material. This device acts as a safety feature.

Requirements

For making mitre-box cuts, the saw unit can be swivelled horizontally to left or right by up to 45. The unit can also be tilted from the vertical to the left by up to 45. The saw is suitable for cutting wood, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
